Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and Petrochemistry of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and Petrochemistry of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was founded in 1987. It includes the scientists of different specialities who devoted their work to the investigations in the bioorganic chemistry and petrochemistry. The main attention in our activity is attached to the development of three chief fields:

• chemistry of biologically active peptides, proteins, nucleic acids and their components;
• chemical models of biological processes, synthesis and study of biological peculiarities of new regulators to be utilized both in medicine and agriculture;
• development of scientific fundamentals and technologies for obtaining of practically necessary products and materials from oil.

The investigation directed at the environmental protection as well as rational use of natural resources acquire an ever growing significance in our activities.

The results of fundamental investigations from the basis for new technical decisions and creation of new materials and substances. Many investigations of the Institute's scientists are interdisciplinary ones requiring wide knowledge. The authoritative scientists and young investigations work at our Institute; experience and fantasy as well as practice and theory are combined. The work results obtained by the Institute's scientists are met in native and international journals, monographs, patents and author's certificates. The Institute has a post-graduate course; it trains the young scientists. The Scientific Council of experts works at the Institute for the defense of theses. We collaborate actively with higher school, as well as with many research organizations and industrial enterprises.

The contacts between the Institute's scientists and foreign colleagues are growing and strengthening. We participate in the realization of a number of international scientific projects and perform contracts with foreign firms. We are ready to co-operate in new fields of activity to promote new knowledge and to serve for the public welfare.
